This is simply one of our favourite beach properties anywhere in the world, and we have been to a lot of beach places! Azura is luxurious, yet not over the top, it is small and personal and has some incredible seafood. It manages to achieve all of this and have no pretentiousness.
The diving around Azura is really great with some nice wall dives as well as a house reef that although not advertised as being anything special is a really cool dive if you like macro diving. The dive boat is great and all the equipment is in really good condition. The deep sea fishing is also great and there is a boat that can be chartered for keen fishermen. We can’t normally spend too long at a beach resort but there is so much to do here that the few days we had here were no where near long enough.
The villas are beautifully decorated and you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into them but it is the fact that they blend in with their surroundings and feel completely at one with the island that makes us love them as much as we do.
Azura is a great relaxing break on its own or can be included in a Dhow safari itinerary or combined with Ibo Island Lodge to mix some history and culture with relaxation.
Access to Azura is by helicopter which is a really lovely way to arrive (or leave) you get the most spectacular views of the island and the surrounding reefs and it is only a short direct journey from Pemba.
