Snapshot: An amazing adventurous yet ultimately accessible itinerary for those looking to do a self sufficient self drive through Botswana’s wild areas…This itinerary can be extended further as a self drive or combined with inclusive camps.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Kasane
Arrive in Kasane, Vehicle briefing, Overnight Kasane Camping On arrival you will be met by a representative from Travel Adventures. You will receive a comprehen- sive 2-3 hour briefing of the vehicle & equipment & the route you will be driving. Following this you can buy provisions in Kasane for the next 9 days on your Self Drive Adventure. Your first night will be spent camping in Kasane.
Day 2 – Chobe National Park
Camping in Ihaha Campsite– Chobe National Park After breakfast and packing camp you will drive to your campsite in Chobe National Park. The Chobe area is renowned for its spectacular herds on elephants along the Chobe River and you will spend you next 2 nights camping in this area and game driving by day.
Day 3 – Chobe National Park

Day 4 – Savuti
Camping Savuti Area Following breakfast you will pack camp and depart Chobe heading for the Savuti region of Chobe National Park. The drive will take you 5-6 hours depending on the game along the way. You will spend 2 nights camping in Savuti and there is no better time to visit Savuti as the Savuti Channel flowed in 2010 for the first time in 30 years! There are also bushmen paintings in Savuti and are signposted on the right side of the main road heading into Savuti. This is the only area in Savuti that you are allowed to exit your vehicle (other than the campsite) and remember not to touch the paintings.
Day 5 – Savuti

Day 6 – Okavango Delta
Camping in Khwai Area Moremi Game Reserve Following breakfast you will pack up camp & drive to the Khwai area of the Moremi Game Reserve. You will spend 2 nights camping in Khwai exploring in your self drive vehicle by day. The drive will take you approx 4-6 hours depending on game viewing along the way.
Day 7 – Okavango Delta

Day 8 – Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta
Camping in Moremi Game Reserve The following morning you will depart early for Moremi Game Reserve. This drive will take you 4-6 hours depending on what game & birds you encounter on the way into the Parks. You will spend the last 2 nights camping in Moremi exploring on game drives by day.
Day 9 – Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta

Day 10
Maun Drop off vehicle It’s time to pack camp for the last time and head to Maun to meet the Travel Adventures representative to drop off the vehicle, you will then continue on with your onward arrangements.

Pricing: £1,075 per person
All pricing is given as a guideline, as all our itineraries are tailor made actual costs will depend on dates, passengers and exchange rates as well as any alterations to the itinerary.
Inclusions: Fully equipped 4×4 Vehicle (Landcruiser), route planning, campsites, national park fees, guidance and 24hr support.
Exclusions: International flights, fuel and food.
POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS
- Lake Malawi “beach” extension – There are a few options of places to stay but by far the best is the idyllic Kaya Mawa on Likoma Island.
- Victoria Falls – If you fancy winding down for a couple of days after safari then this is a good option, as a bonus you get to see one of the seven wonders of the world!
- More safari…. – Combine the South Luangwa with one of Zambia’s other safari destinations such as the Kafue or Lower Zambezi.
