Snapshot: This is a great itinerary for families looking for a longer safari, it would therefore suit families that have older children or have been on safari before. A fantastic combination of properties specifically selected for families in some of Kenya’s premier wilderness areas.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Nairobi
Depending on arrival time it may be necessary for a night in Nairobi, if this is the case you will arrive at Nairobi airport where you will be met and transferred to your Nairobi hotel for one night on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2 – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
This morning you will be transferred to the domestic airport across town, here you will take a light aircraft flight to Nanyuki, central Kenya, where you will be met and transferred to Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages in the fantastic Ol Pejeta Conservancy for the next two nights in your own private unit with your own vehicle and guide.
Day 3 – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Today you will have a day with your own private guide, they will tailor the days activities to you and your family. This is a fantastic start to your safari there are few other people in this part of the conservancy area and wildlife viewing is good.
Day 4 – Lewa Conservancy
Today you will travel from the Ol Pejeta Conservancy to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, this is another privately owned area that is doing some amazing conservation work, you will stay at the lovely Lewa House in a family cottage for the next 3 nights.
Day 5 and 6 – Lewa Conservancy
This property is fantastic for those with both older and younger children, for those with older children walking safaris and trying horseback safari keep things interesting while for those with smaller ones special activities can be arranged during game drives to keep them entertained. There is also the opportunity to arrange some childcare so you can have some adult time if you wish.
Day 7 – Masai Mara
Today it is time to move from central to southern Kenya, you will be driven to the airstrip where you will catch your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara, the flights stop at a few airstrips in the Masai Mara and you get a great opportunity to see the landscape of the country from the air. On arrival in the Masai Mara you will be transferred to your own Mara Bush House for the next 3 nights.
Day 8 and 9 – Masai Mara
There are three Mara Bush Houses, each offering something different and each in a different location. What they have in common is the privacy, flexibility and almost unrivalled family experience. Again, this is a great option for families with younger or older kids alike, activities can be tailored to you and mealtimes adjusted to make the whole stay totally focused on you having the best time.
Day 10
Today you will say goodbye to your guide at the airstrip and catch your light aircraft flight back to Nairobi where you will connect with your onward flights.
