Flatdogs and Lion Camp
Best Value Safari
Best Value Safari
Duration: 7 Nights
When: Between June and November
Snapshot: A really great safari covering several different areas of this great national park, this is a fantastic option for both the value that it offers and the overall experience, it is also a very good option for keen photographers with an option to have a private guide/vehicle at each camp as well as the opportunity for a professional photographer to accompany your group on the whole trip.
Day 1 – Central area, South Luangwa
On arrival at Mfuwe airport you will be met by a guide from Flatdogs camp, you will be driven the 45 minute or so through local villages. On arrival at Flatdogs you will settle into your luxury safari tent where you will stay for the next 3 nights on a full board basis, including two activities per day.
Day 2 & 3 – Central area, South Luangwa
These days will be focused on driving safaris in one of the best game viewing areas of the park. Flatdogs is located close to the main gate and has good access to some great loop roads. There is an option to have a private vehicle here which is recommended for keen photographers or those with special interests.
Day 4 – Northern sector, South Luangwa
Today you will be transferred to the remote northern sector of the South Luangwa where you will spend the next 4 nights at Lion Camp on a full board basis (including house drinks). This is one of the most remote areas in the park and is a really nice spot, we are constantly amazed at the value that Lion Camp offers for such a high quality of safari.
Day 5 to 7 – Northern sector, South Luangwa
Safari in this region of the park is some of the best on the planet in our opinion. There are Lion prides (as the name suggests), Leopard, and access to some of the most untouched bush, home to an unprintable number of species both big and small. Both walking and driving safaris are possible here as well as private guide/vehicle for those looking to either do something different from the norm or for keen photographers.
Day 8
Today you will be driven back to Mfuwe airport (about 2 hours, operated as a game drive), here you will connect with your flight to Lusaka and onward arrangements.
