This is one of the most isolated camps in Africa, deep in the south of Ruaha it is in the running for one of the most magical luxury camps that we have ever visited. Tents under thatch, located on a dry river bed that is often frequented by elephants digging for water and looks onto a riverine forest on the oposite banks.
It is a true luxury camp in the middle of nowhere, we feel that being a “luxury” property can often end up leading to more focus being on this than the safari, that is most definitely not the case with Jongomeru or its sister property (Siwandu) in the Selous which is why we like it so much.
The walking from here is great and there is a great flycamping option available, the really great thing about this camps location is that there is no way that you will see vehicles from any other camps while out on activities, simply because there are none anywhere near.
The camp is made up of 8 stylish “suites” with huge comfortable beds and a lovely verandah. There is a hippo friendly swimmingpool (built so they can get out if they get in!), and a really well put together thatched main area. We have also found the guiding with this company to be some of the best in Tanzania.
