North Luangwa is one of the most untouched and remote wilderness areas in Zambia. There is little in the way of tourism infrastructure and very few camps so you will see fewer people here than almost anywhere else in Africa. For these reasons ‘North Park’, as it is known, is primarily geared towards walking safaris and it is one of the best places for this in the country.
Because of the lack of investment and roads there is only currently one camp that we suggest and that is Remote Africa Safari’s Mwaleshi Camp, because of this it is most frequently combined with stays in their camps in the South Luangwa, although this is not a prerequisite and Mwaleshi works when combined with a few other options in the South Luangwa as well as some camps in the Kafue and Lower Zambezi areas.
North Luangwa is a dry season only area due to its access and the remoteness of the camps in the area. Any time between June and October offers visitors the chance to experience this incredible destination.
North Luangwa is reached from an airstrip close to the South Luangwa or from Lusaka, Remote Africa Safaris offer a shared charter service with their own aircraft which links their camps perfectly.
North Luangwa is one of the best walking safari areas in Africa, there is limited driving which makes for a nice interlude if here on a longer stay but the focus is the walks and being in this incredible wilderness.
