Tanzania’s Northern Circuit is one of the most popular safaris in Africa, yet there are so many ways to experience this amazing combination of National Parks and protected areas.
The Northern Circuit is made up of 4 distinct areas, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park. Now, not every itinerary includes all of these areas and it has become quite common for Tarangire to be dropped when people do not have enough time to do all the parks, this is in no way because Tarangire is the least attractive (in our opinion it is potentially the best park in the circuit) more because it is slightly out of the way and dropping it reduces the overall travelling time of the itinerary.
Many of the big Africa outfits have their own northern circuit itinerary, offering discounts for longer stays including several camps owned by them. This is a good way to do a top end safari and get some great savings, but it is important to note that many operators have a number of camps in the Serengeti so your goals for the trip may impact on which camp and which company would be best for you.
We have put together a few itineraries to give you an idea of the styles of property and itinerary. These are just ideas and as mentioned there are numerous ways of constructing this itinerary and when looking at a driving itinerary the accommodation combinations are almost endless.
