Okonjima is a unique place and it makes the perfect place to spend a few days doing something completely different. Situated halfway between Namibia’s quaint capital city, Windhoek, and the Etosha National Park, the private Okonjima Nature Reserve, nestled over 200 square kilometres amongst the imposing Omboroko Mountains, boasts some of the most exceptional accommodation in Namibia, but the unequivocal highlights are the cheetah and leopard safaris.
Okonjima’s Plains Camp is the main base for the accommodation here and offers all of the fantastic activities that are so unique to this lovely location. Each of the 14 Standard Rooms enjoy a view across the Okonjima grass plains! Plains Camp is great value for a really cool experience and due to its distance from the Capital it works really well as a final stop on a self driving trip to avoid another night in the city.
Not only is Okonjima a luxury lodge, but it is also home to The AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organisation, committed to long-term conservation of Namibia’s large carnivores, especially cheetahs leopards and lions. A visit to Okonjima will give you an opportunity to witness some of AfriCat’s work.
