Snapshot : A fantastic mobile walking experience, giving you a small taste of what a true safari would have been like back in the day, you will walk for five days covering approximately 10km a day, following the picturesque Mupamadzi River through truly wild countryside.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Mfuwe area, South Luangwa
On arrival at Mfuwe International Airport a guide from Robin Pope Safaris will meet you. The drive to Nkwali Camp is 1 hour through colourful local scenes of villages, agriculture as well as bush. You will stay at Nkwali for 1 night.
Day 2 – South Luangwa Mobile
After an early breakfast, you will be heading north to start your walking mobile which is on of the best wilderness experiences in Africa. Your drive is some 90kms to the Mupamadzi River along a bush road, through remote parts of the park. You arrive in camp for lunch around mid-day. The camp is already set up for your arrival with well-equipped walk-in tents.
Day 3 – South Luangwa Mobile
Up at sunrise for the morning walk. The area is remote and wild, the terrain and habitats varied and the game shy and unused to man. From ant’s to buffalo, a bird’s nest to tracking a lion, you will learn the many facets of the bush. The mobile camp will be packed and moved to Camp 2.
Day 4 – South Luangwa Mobile
Explore the area on foot – returning to the same campsite.
Day 5 and 6 – South Luangwa Mobile
The camp will be moved again to camp 3 during the morning as you walk further down the river. The Mupamadzi River is a major tributary of the Luangwa.
Day 7- South Luangwa
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Luangwa River crossing point opposite Tena Tena. This is a 4 to 5 hour drive. Camp staff will meet and boat the party across the river, you will then have a short game drive on the way to Tena Tena camp where you will spend 1 night.

Today you will return to Mfuwe airport for your flight to Lusaka.

All pricing is given as a guideline, as all our itineraries are tailor made actual costs will depend on dates, passengers and exchange rates as well as any alterations to the itinerary.

POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS
- Lake Malawi “beach” extension – There are a few options of places to stay but by far the best is the idyllic Kaya Mawa on Likoma Island.
- Victoria Falls – If you fancy winding down for a couple of days after safari then this is a good option, as a bonus you get to see one of the seven wonders of the world!
- More safari…. – The South Luangwa combines well the Lower Zambezi or Kafue National Parks in Zambia.
