Top 5 Beach Escapes
Safari is incredible and something that we are seriously passionate about, but what a lot of people don’t know is that I am also a Dive Master and love everything to do with the ocean, in my opinion there is nothing better after a safari than heading to the sea whether you’re into diving or other watersports or you just want to relax on a pristine beach at a gorgeous boutique hotel.
Denis Island
Denis Island is my favourite property in the Seychelles, it is a wonderful combination of simple and charming with the right amount of luxury and amazing value for the private island experience that it offers. It is also a marine reserve and has on site snorkelling guides, a great house reef and activities such as kayaking make this a superb place for those looking for a romantic and remote beach holiday,
Waterlovers Beach
A small boutique family run hotel on the Kenyan coast, this is a great choice for those that want to extend their safari and make a larger trip without breaking the bank but still getting a quality and memorable experience. Rather than a large resort we love to use places like Waterlovers, it may not be the glitz and glam of some of its neighbours but its charm and character are far superior.
Ocean Spa Lodge
Staying in Kenya we move on to this stunning property, located on a wonderfully quiet stretch of beach. For those looking to be pampered and spoiled this is one of the most wonderful locations in Kenya. This sublime property is my choice for a few days of simply nothing at the end of a busy safari and before heading back to the real world, get here, switch everything off including yourself and sit back and relax.
Chole Mjini
For those that love the ocean and escaping back to nature… This quaint, rustic and charming property is a lovely way to experience the African coastline. Laying just off of Zanzibar Chole Mjini is a tree house property that focuses on giving back to its surroundings and appreciating both the island the surrounding seas. This isn’t luxurious with white sand beaches, this is jump in the sea and experience the thrill of seeing Whale Sharks, snorkel or dive amazing reefs and then sleep in the trees in your own Robinson Crusoe house… its not for everyone but for those that love adventure and the outdoors this will be a place you never forget.
Azura Quilalea
Of all the beach properties that I have every visited this is the one that comes closest to eclipsing my love of safari camps. It is remote, it is gorgeous, it is a private island with just the right amount of opulence without being pretentious, it has amazing diving and incredible food with beautifully appointed secluded villas. If you decide to blow some budget on a beach extension to your safari holiday or even just a beach holiday then I can fully recommend Azura Quilalea.
