Zimbabwe is, in our opinion, the most up and coming safari destination in Africa, this is the time to explore this incredible country for any keen safari enthusiast. Sharing many similarities with its neighbour Zambia in its mainstream safari areas there are also some incredible off the beaten track experiences for those seeking remote wilderness areas with few other people.
The country has suffered many setbacks but this means that the tourism industry, which was once one of the busiest in Africa, has had years of going unnoticed, this is no longer the case and the guiding, hospitality and fantastic wildlife density is grabbing the attention of both first timers and safari veterans.
As with Zambia, Zimbabwe is known for incredible professional guiding and has some of the most rigorous examinations which lead to this being one of the best places on the continent to experience a walking safari with incredibly knowledgable guides.
Zimbabwe’s most iconic safari destinations are Mana Pools and Hwange which are now home to a range of excellent camps from the rustic and authentic traditional tented experience through to more luxurious options. Combine these areas with Victoria Falls or more remote safari areas.
Zimbabwe’s tourism is growing but now is the time to come, the country still offers incredible value for money, meaning that you can get a world class safari in a great camp with amazing guiding for considerably less than a comparable trip in Botswana or Zambia.
Zimbabwe is a year round safari destination. The green season is great for birding and the shoulder season, which lies between the rains and the peak of the dry season is by far the best for photography in terms of light conditions. This variation in conditions and the number of excellent camps on offer is where we come in….give us a call, tell us what your interests are and we can talk you through the best options whether you are looking for a traditional safari, a walking safari or something more specific.
The main gateways into the country are Victoria Falls and Harare depending on your itinerary, there are a number of airline options depending on your itinerary, unfortunately there are no direct flights into Zimbabwe including South Africa Airways, Kenya Airways and British Airways.
Zambia has an incredible number of different activities on offer and there is the safari for every special interest, there are places that are perfect for walkings safaris, there are some amazing camps and guides for those looking for the most amazing photography safaris, there are over 400 species of bird for the birders, and there is the best river in Africa for a paddle.
