Itinerary
Day 1 – Lower Zambezi
On arrival at Lusaka Airport you will walk round to the domestic departures desk and check in for your Proflight Zambia flight to Royal Airstrip. Here you will be met by your driver/guide who will take you through the park on a game drive to reach Chiawa Camp, this is a journey of about an hour but may vary depending on what you see on the way. You will stay here for the next 4 nights on a full board basis, including house drinks and all safari activities.
Day 2 – 4 – Lower Zambezi
The Lower Zambezi is one of the most pristine national parks in Africa and on top of this the camps all offer a hugely diverse range of activities to keep you busy. Here you can take part in the traditional driving safari in open sided vehicles, walking safaris (which we love!) and also try a canoe safari, something which is not available in many other places in Africa.
Day 5 – South Luangwa
Today is quite a long travel day, you will be driven on a final game drive back to Royal Airstrip for your Proflight Zambia flight to Lusaka, here you will have a short wait for your flight to Mfuwe Airport, also with Proflight Zambia. When you arrive you will be met by your Bushcamp Company guide who will drive you to the Mfuwe gate, a drive of about an hour, here you will transfer through the park on a game drive to Chindeni Bushcamp where you will stay for the next 4 nights.
Day 6 to 8 – South Luangwa
There is great walking and driving around this area, we strongly recommend that you get out on foot, the Bushcamp Company guides are some of the best walking guides that we have come across in Africa. Each walk feels like you have been on a journey with a great zoologist, you will forget half the facts you are told, only to remember them mid supper. I would also suggest that if you have an interest in the smaller things in Africa that this is the perfect chance to quiz your guide on the intricacies of the eco system.
Day 9 – Likoma Island
Today you will travel for about half a day but the contrast in what you leave and where you arrive feels like you have travelled to another part of the world. You will leave this morning on a game drive to the main gate which will take about 2 – 3 hours, from here you will head to Mfuwe airport for your Ulendo Airlink flight to Likoma Island.
On arrival here you will be met and transferred to the idyllic Kaya Mawa where you will stay for the next 4 nights on a fully inclusive basis.
While not the normal destination that springs to mind when you consider a beach break in Africa, Lake Malawi offers some absolutely stunning scenery and some lovely beaches. It may not be traditional but it is the perfect place to chill out for a few days after a safari.
Day 10 to 12 – Likoma Island
This time is set-aside for you to relax and recover from all the excitement before heading back to the real world. That being said, there is no shortage of things to do here on this tiny island in the middle of a lake to keep you occupied.
Day 13
Unfortunately all holidays must come to an end and today it is time for you to transfer back to the airport on Likoma Island for your flight to Lilongwe for your onward arrangements.
