Uganda offers a chance to experience one of the most memorable activities that is widely available anywhere on the planet, a chance to trek to and visit Gorillas in their own shrinking habitat. To have the opportunity to sit with these incredibly majestic animals for even an hour is something that will leave you humbled and in aw. However, the Gorillas are not the only thing that Uganda has to draw you in, in total there are currently 10 National Parks that all have something different to offer.
Out of the 4 countries that offer Gorilla trekking Uganda and the Congo are our favourites both offering very different experiences, with the Congo being a set weekly itinerary due to lack of infrastructure (see this itinerary here). Uganda has been on the tourist map a little longer and therefore has more options, allowing us to tailor the itinerary to you. The thing that we love most about Uganda is the diversity, while it is true that you can fly in and do a short Gorilla trekking ad-on to your East Africa safari there is so much more to this country than that for those that have the time, whether you chose to be driven round the country and experience Africa on the ground or if you would prefer to fly from one very different destination to the next.
There is more to Uganda than we can include on these pages so we have focussed on the highlights, if you are interested in a more in depth discussion and more information about off the beaten path destinations such as Kideppo, Rwenzori Mountains, Semliki or Mgahinga then get in touch today.
Due to the mountains the Impenetrable Forest area receives some rain year round, however this is heavier and country wide during March and April so we tend to avoid travelling to Uganda at this time of the year as it leads to harder game viewing conditions. This said this is the best time of year for those heading on a birding safari.
Unfortunately there are currently there are no direct flights from the UK to Uganda, the best ways to get to the capital Kampala is through Kenya with either British Airways or Kenya Airways.
Uganda offers one of the most incredible experiences in Africa but it also offers the chance to see habituated Chimps and plains game such as Lions, Elephant and Giraffe.. Safari is the name of the game here, whether is be for primates or other wildlife. For the adventurous there is Rwenzori Mountains where there is some excellent hiking.
