Zambia is one of our favourite places (in the world, not just in Africa) for so many great reasons. Predominantly, for us, the wilderness areas are simply incredible, with some of the most remote bush camps in Africa and the most pristine safari environments on the continent.
The guiding in Zambia is recognised as some of the best there is and home to a several award winning guides. The guides really do make your whole experience what it is and we have come across so many fantastic guides while living and working in Zambia. Other major factors drawing safari enthusiasts to Zambia are the small, intimate camps and the incredibly authentic nature of the safaris that the country offers. Bigger lodges tend to have around ten rooms with more remote bush camps having somewhere between three and five chalets/tents.
Zambia is the home of the walking safari, being the first place that walking in the bush was first developed from hunting and turned into a tourist activity, the safari industry here is very proud of this fact and experiencing a walking safari remains a big part of going of a trip to Zambia, whether you would like to try it out or make walking the focus of your trip this is possibly the best place to get out on foot in the wilderness.
Top Zambia itineraries
Zambia is a year round safari destination but there are a number of the more remote areas that are only open during the dry season. The green season is great for birding and the shoulder season, which lies between the rains and the peak of the dry season is by far the best for photography in terms of light conditions. This variation in conditions and the number of excellent camps on offer is where we come in….give us a call, tell us what your interests are and we can talk you through the best options.
The main gateways into the country are Livingstone and Lusaka, there are a number of airline options depending on your itinerary, including South Africa Airways, Emirates, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian.
