We love to offer a slightly different take on things here and including a canoe safari in your itinerary gives a new and very different perspective on your African surroundings, wether you are looking to just try something different for an afternoon or to take on an epic multi day journey a canoe safari is a great African experience.
There are a few fantastic places to canoe in Africa, the stand out being the mighty Zambezi river either on the Zambian or Zimbabwean side, the river separates the Lower Zambezi and Mana pools national parks both of which are teeming with incredible game, great camps and brilliant guides. Here you can try out canoeing as a single activity or take a longer journey staying in an adventurous mobile camp.
The other place that offers a fantastic opportunity to explore in this unique manner is the Selinda river and the multi day trip run by the fantastic Great Plains Conservation. This is one of our favourite things to suggest for those that want a bit of an expedition.
Many of the properties in both the Lower Zambezi and Mana Pools offer canoe safaris as an extra safari activity, either in the morning or the afternoon. This is a great way to try something new as part of a multi activity safari itinerary, it is a nice thing to do of a morning especially so you can still do an afternoon game drive or river cruise.
This option is available in fewer locations but is a really great option for those that want to feel like they are on a journey but are not ready or as confident about camping in the bush. You will leave your camp in the morning by canoe and arrive at your new destination in time for lunch, in the afternoon you can choose to do a different activity, usually either a game drive or walk. These are completely bespoke itineraries so for more info get in touch.
Something for the more adventurous Africa explorers, we love this sort of thing, it is possible to arrange anything from 2 nights to a week of canoeing and from very lightweight fly camps to non participation “luxury” mobile camps. Wake up, step out of your tent into an untouched wilderness surrounded only by wildlife, enjoy breakfast and then head off into your own personal Africa! There are a two options for this, either set departures in small groups or private journeys, we can help with either so if you want to know any more then get in touch.
