A true dhow safari, for us, is a multi day trip exploring unspoilt waters and sleeping on untouched beaches, there are very few places in the world where this sort of thing is possible, we consider ourselves very lucky to operate somewhere that it is. I imagine that one of the reasons we like it so much is that it is very similar to a mobile walking safari, just on water! There are also opportunities to try day trips as well, for those that aren’t sure if a multi day trip is for them.
This is operated by the owners of Ibo Island Lodge and has been an incredible success and it is not hard to see why, you start or end your journey at Ibo Island Lodge and can add on a dew days at a luxury beach retreat if you wish as well (Azura Quilalea, being nearby and AMAZING!), they operate set departure journeys where you will be joined by others but we can also arrange private journeys tailor made to your requirements.
An average day will include some sailing, some snorkelling, some kayaking, and finally, relaxing under the stars, G&T in hand, as dinner is prepared on a deserted beach over an open fire!! Take me there I hear you shout….
They have now also developed a mobile dive safari which for keen divers we think is an absolute must, we have not been to do it yet as it has been developed since we last went but we are mad keen to get out there and give it a go as it will explore some absolutely pristine reef systems.
