Chada Katavi is, for us, the ideal east African bush camp; tented, simple yet brilliantly done, in an incredible location with a focus on the true beauty that Africa has to offer. Chada is on many safari enthusiasts wishlist and it is true that it takes longer to get to and is more costly to do so than many other areas in Tanzania, however, once you are there you have a whole wilderness to yourself and for us that is worth travelling further and paying more…
There are only 6 tents each with en suite and safari-style showers, they are classily put together under a stand of big shady trees looking directly out onto a game rich plain. The safari from here is great and you will not see another soul which is just the way it should be.
You can walk out and fly camp which is an incredible experience and one we highly recommend, but if you dont fancy that then you can split your time between game drives and relaxing in the camp, where there is always the chance of elephants walking through, browsing on the trees under which your tent is shaded.
