What we say: We really like this property, the camp is in a wonderful location that at the moment has no immediate neighbours apart from a hardly used campsite. The elephant population is lower than further south but still substantial and in the dry season there is constant traffic to the seep that is located right in front of rooms 5-8.
The guiding here was superb when we visited and the walking safari in particular was one of the best in Africa. All in all for location, value and authenticity but with some luxury touches this is a great option in Hwange.
What they say: The style of the camp is “Less is more”. A non-pretentious camp designed to blend in with the rock and bush which occur on this slight rise above the Deteema Springs. The tents are smaller than the traditional Machaba style tent, fitting in with the surroundings of one of the most iconic parts of Hwange National Park. The tents are comfortable with all the facilities of a luxury camp, including hot and cold running water, flush toilet and decks. The main area is tented on decks overlooking the Deteema Springs, offering one an opportunity to sit and watch the African bush unfold in front of you.
