Dunia is a fantastic little tented camp, combining an almost colonial style with touches of class and luxury not found in other camps of this size. The camp consists of 8 tents and is perfect for those seeking solid game viewing year round and a tented camp experience.
Unlike many tented camps in the Serengeti and others owned by the same company, this camp does not move, however that is because it doesn’t need to. Dunia is located in one of the prime year round game viewing areas in Tanzania. This is only a negative consideration if you are looking to see the migration at a time of year when it is not in this area. Since we love the Serengeti as much if not more without the migration this is not something we necessarily see as a bad thing, in fact, when the migration is at the opposite end of the Serengeti you have more of this area to yourself giving you a better wildlife experience.
This camp works well for families as it has a specific family tent and the guides and staff are all experienced and do well with kids. We would suggest that families with young children consider a private guide as this helps to enable maximum flexibility and enjoyment for the whole family.
Dunia is part of a group of camps in the Serengeti varying in the level of luxury and position but also including Olivers in Tarangire and Kwihala in Ruaha. We think it works very well as part of a larger circuit and unless you are looking for a higher level of luxury then this is a really great option.
