Mukambi Lodge is a bit bigger than we would normally use but its location and game viewing make it the best in this area, on top of that it combines brilliantly with its sister camp in the Busanga Plains (Mukambi Plains Camp). The main area is nicely located right on the bank of the Kafue River and offers a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by.
This location offers a handy entrance into the park, you cross in the morning by boat to reach your waiting safari vehicle. The park is hardly busy but this gets you into a more exclusive area than going through the main gate.
While it is a perfectly good safari destination in its own right because of the activities on offer and the variety of eco systems in the vicinity, we usually use this as a staging post to get to the Busanga Plains staying for one or two nights at the lodge before heading north.
