Namibia’s Luxury Properties

We cannot get enough of Namibia, whether we are camping across the whole country or if we are staying in some of the most stunning locations in some of the most luxurious properties in Southern Africa.

This blog is going to highlight some of our favourite luxury properties that Namibia is becoming well known for.

If you know how we operate then you will know that a camp or lodge has to offer an incredible experience to go with its luxury in order to justify its price tag, those that know Namibia will notice that there are a few omissions from the list that could easily be included as really lovely properties but for us they have to be the full package especially if like the below they are going to blow the budget…

Wolwedans Dune Lodge

For those heading South to the dunes of the Namib Naukluft this is an incredible place to spend a few nights. It a private reserve past the dunes it is truly something special and one of the places that most camptures just how wild this country is, it doesn’t hurt that everything is done right here, from guiding and activities to food and service.

Hoanib Camp

Looking for desert adapted wildlife and want to do it in style… look no further. Owned by one of the most renowned operators in Africa this camp offers some great game viewing opportunities including Desert Elephant and Desert Lion and comes along with a surprisingly high level of luxury in an incredibly remote location. Combine a stay here with camps in other parts of Damaraland that are geared towards Desert Rhino and in Etosha for a brilliant Namibia Wildlife itinerary.

Little Ongava

Moving on to Etosha where there a large number of options for “luxury” properties from lodges to tented camps. For the best of these Little Ongava just clinches it for us (Blog on Namibia’s tented camps to come in a few months), this very small and intimate lodge is located in a private reserve to the South of the National Park. Game driving can be done in the main reserve or in the private area, both have given us some of our own personal favourite wildlife experiences.

&Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge

Sometimes, as we always say, luxury is not the ultimate goal and a property can offer all the luxury in the world but if it does not have great guides, great activities and that special something then no amount of luxury will make it worth including in an itinerary. I was sceptical when coming to this property for this reason, but I cannot being to get across how much of a great time I had staying here, the guiding was superb and the activities truly varied, the hosting was impeccable and the food amazing… my only reservation about this property is that because of its location it does not feel as wild. However, if you have come from Wolwedans which is not far to the South then this is definitely worth a couple of nights in order to visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei.

Okonjima Bush Camp

So, after a long Namibia either flying around the country or driving then what better than to slow things down a bit, this superb camp sits in a conservation concession and gives you a chance to do some tracking of Cheetah, learn about carnivore conservation with the Africat Foundation and have a bit of down time all only a few hours away from the airport, making it a brilliant place to end a Namibia holiday. For those that would like a truly exceptional end there is a two-bedroom villa and an entire house for family groups.
