Safari and beach combinations

The combination of a safari trip followed by a beach stay is a timeless classic, it is most often used for first time safaris and honeymoons but the reality is that it can be perfect for just about anyone that is looking to do two totally different types of holiday in one. As with all itineraries, safari and beach combinations are completely tailor made so no matter what is important to you, what style of accommodation you like or how long you want to be away we can put something bespoke together for you.

Generally safari does involve early mornings and a lot of fresh air and while you may spend a fair amount of time sat in a vehicle there is something about the concentration that makes it quite tiring so what better way to round off a safari holiday than with a few days recharging your batteries on a beach!

So what are the considerations and where do you start? That’s where come in…. have a read of the below and if you would like us to construct an itinerary for you then drop us an email or give us a call.

Safari

You can combine almost all safari destinations with a beach stay, the main consideration is how far you have to travel to reach the beach, for example a landlocked country like Botswana requires an overnight stay in Johannesburg to reach any beach whereas the Selous in Southern Tanzania is only a short hop from the tropical Zanzibar Island and the Masai Mara in Kenya links perfectly with the Diani Beach coastline.

Beach

There are a number of options for beach stays although there are usually one or two logical options depending on where you are on safari. In Tanzania you can visit the quiet and remote mainland coastline, the iconic Zanzibar or even northern Mozambique, from Zambia you can travel to the shores of Lake Malawi or travel further to Mozambique or the Mauritius with a one-night stop in South Africa en route.

Itinerary ideas

Below are just a few ideas of the sort of thing that can work really well, there are so many combinations of destination and properties that there is something for everyone with a safari and beach combination so have a browse and then get in touch if this is something that you would like to try.

Masai Mara and Beach – Best Value Safari

This is one of our top picks for those looking for an inexpensive short break to Africa or for those looking to try safari for the first time. The camp in the Masai Mara is authentic and wonderfully run and the beach property offers a chance to relax and enjoy a few days in the sun.

Lower Zambezi, South Luangwa and Lake Malawi

This is a simply stunning itinerary, two great safari properties, each in a superb location, followed by some serious relaxation time at the best property in Malawi, shores of the lake on the remote Likoma Island.

Selous and Zanzibar

An absolute classic and a combination that can be done using any number of properties to suit all styles and budgets, this works so well due to the amazing Selous Game Reserve being so close the tropical and picturesque Zanzibar.
