South Africa…The secret behind its popularity
South Africa has always been a popular destination but at the moment it is one of the most visited countries in Africa for the UK market, why is this? We are going to take a look at what it is that is making this such a popular destination and at some of our favourite itineraries and properties.
The value for money offered by South Africa has always been great, but now it is even better! Historically this is down to a few reasons, predominantly because this is a far more developed country with a much better infrastructure, building and running properties is a far more straight forward affair than say the Okavango Delta where everything must be flown in and building materials etc can only reach the camp for short periods of time each year making building, maintenance and refurbishments costly and logistically tricky.
This leads to the cost of fantastic quality properties in South Africa being far more affordable than similar standard accommodation elsewhere.
The Rand has never been a strong currency against the Pound, however, with the GBP weakening or readjusting (whichever way you chose to look at it) and the USD refusing to budge, despite that political climate in the US, this means that the exchange rate when booking arrangements in South Africa compared to other destinations is far more advantageous to those of us earning GBP.
The tourism industry in Africa as a whole is very competitive but nowhere more so that South Africa, with lots of world class places to chose from they are all vying for your business and this helps us to utilise special offers and combination deals in order to get the costs down.
As with most of our destinations, possibly more so, South Africa is an incredibly diverse country. It really can offer something for almost all visitors; From the amazing private reserves around Kruger, famed for their incredibly wildlife and guiding, to the beauty of the Winelands, from the incredible Tswalu in the Kalahari to the lush coastline and rolling hills of Kwazulu Natal.
Below are a few of our favourite itineraries, these are simply examples of the sort of thing that we love to put together and all can be extended, have properties swapped around and generally used as a starting point for constructing your perfect holiday.
