Northern Namibia Wildlife
Classic Safari
Classic Safari
Duration: 9 Nights
When: Year Round
Snapshot: If you do not have time to explore the whole of Namibia and your interest is primarily wildlife then this is the itinerary for you. This classic standard itinerary gives you a chance to hunt for desert adapted wildlife in the countries most prolific areas.
Day 1 – Windhoek
Today you will arrive at Windhoek international airport where you will be met and greeted by one of our guys on the ground, you will collect your hire car (Double Cab 4×4 or similar) and make your way to Olive Grove Guesthouse for one night on a bed and breakfast basis. Here you can relax and take it easy after your long journey.
Day 2 – Damarland
today you will head to Damaraland, one of the most interesting and remote wilderness areas in Africa, home to some great desert adapted wildlife and fascinating cultural experiences. Your first stop in Damaraland is Doro Nawas, you will stay in this central location for the next 2 nights.
Day 3 – Damarland
This part of Damaraland has easy access to the famous rock paintings of Twyfelfontein as well as some great wildlife. A great thing to note about this property is that it is supporting the local communities being part owned by a safari company and the local people.
Day 4 – Damarland
Today you will head north to a more remote part of Damaraland where you will spend the next 2 nights at Grootberg Lodge, a property with some of the best views in Namibia.
Day 5 – Damarland
This area is superbly untouched and very scenic. A twin centre approach in Damaraland gives you the opportunity to really get under the skin of one of our favourite areas in Namibia.
Day 6 – Etosha
Leaving Damaraland you will today head to Etosha, Namibia’s premier wildlife destination. Staying at the fantastic value Okaukuejo Camp for the next 2 nights you can explore this landscape at your own pace, self driving safaris are popular from here and the waterhole in camp is often teeming with wildlife.
Day 7 – Etosha
Take a full day drive around this massive national park, head from waterhole to waterhole in search of big game species such as Elephant, Rhino and Lion.
Day 8 – Okonjima
You will start your journey south today and stop for 2 nights at Okonjima Plains Camp. This is a really worthwhile place to stay giving you an opportunity to witness some of the great conservation work going on in Namibia today.
Day 9 – Okonjima
Okonjima is home to the Africat foundation which helps to rehabilitate and rescue big cats. There are a number of activities here, the most popular being visits to the Ceetah programme, Leopard viewing and carnivore tracking.
