Northern Highlights
Classic Safari
Classic Safari
Duration: 10 Nights
When: Year Round
Snapshot: This brilliant itinerary is one of our most popular combinations in Botswana, it concentrates on the prolific wildlife areas in the north of the country as well as a visit to Victoria Falls.
This itinerary is based on ‘Classic’ accommodation and is available using a range of different properties, from more adventurous to the ultra luxurious.
Day 1 – Livingstone
On arrival into Livingstone Airport, you will be met and transferred by shared road transfer to Waterberry Lodge where you will stay for 2 nights. Waterberry Lodge is one of our favourite understated properties in the falls area, it is close enough to enjoy the activities of the surrounding area but far enough away to be beautifully peaceful.
This afternoon there will be the opportunity for you to visit The Falls, an incredible spectacle and a fantastic experience.
Day 2 – Livingstone
Today you will have a full day to explore Victoria Falls area. There are activities in this area to suit everyone, from scenic helicopter flights over the falls and sundowner cruises along the Zambezi to white water rafting and bungee jumping. Waterberry Lodge also includes two in house activities a day which range from sunset cruises to cultural excursions.
Some of the activities are best pre-booked to avoid disappointment but some can be arranged on arrival, we will talk you through the options when putting together your itinerary.
Day 3 – Chobe National Park
Today you will be picked up and transferred by road to Chobe National Park (Via Kasane). Here you will stay at Ghoha Hills for the next 2 nights. This property is one of the more remote in the Chobe National Park, laying away from the crowds and about an hours drive to the Savuti marshes, one of the most prolific game viewing areas in the region.
Day 4 – Chobe National Park
Chobe is famous for its herds of Elephants, especially in the dry season, this is because the area has limited permanent water and the river attracts wildlife for miles around as the landscape dries out. Activities here include boating safaris and game drives, while the area is busier than other parts of Botswana the wildlife density is fantastic and makes it well worth including in an itinerary.
Day 5 – Okavango Delta
Today you will be transferred back to Kasane where you will get a shared charter flight into the Okavango Delta, one of the best game viewing destinations in the world! Here you will stay at Machaba Camp in the Khwai Community area for the next 3 nights. Machaba is one of the best value and most authentic safari camps in the Okavango Delta area.
Day 6 and 7 – Okavango Delta
The Khwai Cummunity Concession has become one of the most popular locations for excellent value safaris. The Khwai area borders the world famous Moremi Game Reserve and is a great place for predominantly dry activities with some options for water activities during the high floods.
Day 8 – Okavango Delta
Today you will fly by light aircraft to Stanley’s Camp, located on the opposite side of the Moremi in its own concession. Stanley’s is a lovely tented camp on stilts that is home to one of the most incredible Elephant interactions we have come across. You will spend the following 3 nights here.
Day 9 and 10 – Okavango Delta
This private concession is large and, as with others, has restricted vehicle numbers, meaning you get the exclusive experience that the Okavango is famed for but not for the high price tag of some. This area offers the whole range of Okavango activities, game drives, walking and mokoro safaris.
Day 11
Today it is time to fly to Maun to end your trip and depart Botswana. Alternatively you could extend your trip, see the box below.
