Ibo Island Lodge is a really fantastic spot, the lodge itself is a tastefully refurbished collection of three historical buildings each over 150 years old. The food and service are fantastic, as with most of Mozambique, the fresh crab was our favourite on our last stay.
There is a lovely relaxing atmosphere here but there is also a lot of exploring to be done, kayaking through the mangroves is a real adventure and a trip to the sand bar for breakfast or lunch is another must, there is also a historic tour and a modern Ibo tour included in your stay which are both fascinating. Whatever you do with your day there is nothing quite like rounding it off with a sundowner on the roof terrace.
The property is made up of 15 rooms of different standards, we prefer the Sea Facing and Historic Rooms but all are lovely. Ibo Island Lodge is included in all Dhow Safari trips and also combines really well with a stay at Azura @ Quilalea.
